we all offer the praise to Vietnam leaders with honest that have the truthfully national heart for their nation and they have tried to find all kinds of tricky tactics to take over the Cambodia territory. And In order to achieve their big ambitions, their ancestors formularized many tricks, including Vietnamization formula, Khmerization formala, and division for easy management, and so on.

In turn, Khmer leaders only think of their own interests, party interests, and family interests although they destroy their nation to achieve their cause of the self-interests.

Now let me raise the formula of Vietnamization to be known by Khmer young generations and be highly careful of these tricky tactics, especially for every generation leaders.

When Preah Oung Chan died of diarrhea in 1834 on the ship at Kampong Koh Sla ket, a Vietnamese leader, called Oung Lao or Troeung Minh Yang, nominated Princese Oung Mei to be queen. And he did not nominate Princese Penn Botr 1 to be a queen because she was accused of betrayal, which her mother fled to Siem with Preah Oung Im and Preah Oung Duong.

Mr. David Chandler extracted a quote from a Vietnamese document of nominating Princese Oung Mei on page 125 that in order to be a presence of nominating Princese Oung Mei, a Vietnamese King Minh Ma sent Yuon officials from Prey Norkor.

She gained a coronation with no power in 1835 and Cambodian officials were under the powerful controll of Troeung Minh Yang. At that time, Troeung Minh Yang started applying Preah Chao (king) Minh Yang's Vietnamization formula.

In order to achieve this strategy, Vietnam deployed 50,000 troops in Cambodia where its own troop bases were located in Phnom Penh and Posat province.

During that time, Vietname used their fiercely cruel power to take action on Cambodian people. Their cruel activities were as follows: To force Cambodian officials to wear Yuon uniforms, to force Cambodian officials to find food to support Yuon troops, to intimidate Khmer buddhism, to force Khmer monks to wear the same as Yuon monks, to cut away Por Tree, to destroy Khmer temples and monastries, to destroy Buddha statues, to force Khmer people and officials to study Yuon and wear the same uniforms as Yuon.

Yuon strategized to destroy Khmer culture, including Khmer literature, tradition and customs, and religion because these aspects were the foundation to make Khmer nation alive.

In order to put this strategy into action, Yuon sent 16 political commissioners, 70 lawful persons, and 10 teachers to perform their duties of managing the core administrative works in Khmer. Their plans were divided into 4 parts.

  • Division 1: the provincial governor had to be removed with their substituion to be Yuon governor. Khmer territory was planned to Yuon provincial territory, called Tranh Tai Thanh. All Khmer provinces were renamed with Yuon language. In this change, Yuon needed approximately 20 lower commissioners with their knowledge of farming and militery skills to lead Khmer people and controll the whole Khmer territory.
  • Division 2: Yuon planned to strengthen the farming activities, to train the Khmer troops for being against Siem invasion and keeping plenty of rice in the storage for feeding Yuon troops.
  • Division3: Yuon taught Khmers to know Yuon language in order to facilitae the communication.
  • Division 4: urging the planning of putting the Khmer territory to be its colony and they took the chinese immigrants and Yuon prisoners to settle in Khmer territory in order to teach Khmer people the Youn tradition and customs.

The plan of removing the Khmer governors from their position and capturing Princese Oung Mei as well as Khmer royalists to be detained in Vei city was the cause that made Khmer well familiarized that Yuon planned to abolish Khmers completely. And people in the whole country were very furious.

All kinds of Khmer people of 20 to 50 led by their leader rovolt to be against this plan during September and October 1840. The first revolution was started in the east of Krong Oddong along with the riverside , Lvea em province, in Srey So chhor, Khet Kondal Stoeng, Kien Svay, Ket Ksach Kondal, Khet Phnom Penh, and so on.

Until May 1841, the revolution came into the maximum level, therefore, Troeung Minh Yang had no any means to stopping them from this revolution.

With hopelessness of achieving his strategy of applying Vietnamization in Khmers, in the late 1841, Troeung Minh Yang pulled out his troops with arresting Preah Oung Em, Princess Oung Mei, and other royalists as well as taking more than 6,000 Khmer teachers down to Kampuchea Krom territory and then sent a letter to Vei city for appology of not accomplishment, and then he poisioned himself with drinking poisonous substance.

The Vietnamization plan was not successfully applied in Khmer territory because Khmer people had known this plan well and started revolution. However, Yuon has taken over Kampuchea Krom territory and renamed all provinces with Yuon sound. Therefore, Vietnamization is to make Khmers become Yuon with forcing them to study Khmer language and practise Yuon tradition and custom.

This is a vietnamization era of princess Oung Mei practiced by Yuon leader Troeung Minh Yang. What about Vietnamization during the present- Khmer-leader era? What are their tricky strategies to take over Khmer territory? Are those strategies successful or not? What are the weaknessess of Troeung Minh Yang studied by Ho Chi Minh? And How did Ho Chi Minh reverse Minh Yang's formula for their young generation to follow?
